No matter what the event, the convention, or the company, Mikki Williams is going to stand out in the crowd. Coming to the video shoot, Mikki had outrageous shoes, big hair, lots of bling and certainly her own look. According to Mikki, “Anyone can copy different, but nobody can copy unique.”
Mikki’s advice to other speakers and business leaders is to understand that you need to pay attention to building yourself as a brand so that you will stand out from the crowd. In the video, ”Building You as a Brand”, Mikki talks about the value of developing a U.S.P or Unique Selling Proposition that gives others a reason to engage with you.
In all of her engagements, including the well-attended Speaker’s School in Chicago, Mikki goes beyond her appearance to get her audience to pay attention, engage with her on a personal level and pay attention. She encourages others to find stories that create an emotional connection and illustrate the message that you are trying to communicate.
She also encourages speakers to understand that although speaking is an art, it is also a business. You have to have a business and marketing plan, a structure for your organization, learn to delegate certain tasks, and consider diversifying so that people will have many ways to engage with you and your ideas.
